Summer is here. Life is crazy....

Connors ball game got cancelled due to this EXTREME heat wave we are having...

It is h.o.t.

Too freakin' hot.

I do not likey.

This was his last game. We thought it was hot then....

We were wrong.

Oh boy... I remember complaining that Spring was here and it should be warmer.

I did NOT mean THIS warm.

Can you tell this weather makes me crabby?

We had a wedding this past weekend. Another hot day as well.

I got one picture the whole time.

Connor got invited to the beach with a friend.

I think these pictures are pretty cool.

There is a large rock (obviously) that used to be under water!

No you can just climb on it! And spray paint it ( I guess).

I know I haven't been around much. I just have been soooo busy with...life!

Happy Friday!

What are your weekend plans? We don't have too much. Baseball practice for Connor, Farmers Market (grand opening!) soooo excited for that!

Probably a barbecue either at our house or my parents. Haven't really decided yet. Hopefully a bon-fire and smores too! I am praying that the weather hold out. It is crazy cold here right now (40's!!!) but by sunday it is supposed to be in the 70's. Fingers and toes are crossed. We have also had crazy rain as well. And it is supposed to linger through, scattered this weekend. Hoping they are wrong on that one!

This week my friend from Chicago was home visiting! I got to see Frankie- her babe!

He is so cute!

Connor did not want to get too close to the baby. Weird. He stayed his distance.

He is only 8 months old! Big baby!

Well I have a lot to do before tomorrow, so I gotta bust my butt! I really want to take Connor to see Kung Fu Panda 2 tonight too! He is getting to that age now where he wants to bring a friend. Boo.

Oh well.

Monday Favorites....

Hello!

Happy Monday!

What a beautiful weeekend we had in Michigan! They were calling for rain and we only saw about 10 minutes of it on sunday, even while the sun was still shining! I got almost all my flowers planted for our front porch...still need my hanging ferns and one potted fern for the corner....I will show pics soon! It is dark and cloudy here today so not good for pictures...

For today I thought I would share some of my favorite rooms circling the web lately. Some I am sure you have seen before!

LOVE this settee at the end of the bed! To- die -for!! And the framed pics behind the bed! Loveit!

Two things I am loving here. One the gallery wall of prints. I want to do this so badly in our house! I am having issues finding frames I like though that are not 15-20 bucks a piece and with that many..it is not an investment I want to make! Secondly, I LOVE the slipcovered chairs. Love.

I know this is a fallish picture, but I am in love with that zebra bench. I love benches at dining room tables.

A white kitchen. What's not to love about this one? I love the pops of green. It makes it so fresh and not stale looking. And the big island..I want on of those too!

What do you think about the light fixture? I am honestly not crazy about it. I like it, but not what I would have chosen.

So what are your plans for the week? MY friend is up with her baby in town this weekend, staying with her parents! This weekend is the first farmers market in town and I am so excited! They have a great market there in such a tiny little town! It brings in sooo many people. I love it. I just hope the weather stays nice...they are calling for rain. Big surprise.

Whew...it's been awhile 'eh! Things have been hectic around here. Family was here for a few days with my cousins funeral and just busy busy. Situations like this really make you think about life and how fast everything can be taken away. I can't imagine what my Aunt is going through. Scott was only 20 years old...hit by a truck on a dirt bike. Crazy freak accident.

I truly believe though, that when it is your time, it is your time. No matter where you are at the moment..what you are doing. When God is ready to take you, he will. It helps to think this way (for me). It makes it easier to accept things. When you trust and believe in God, you know you will see that person again.

So today, take a little extra time with the ones you love. Don't take anything for granted.

Hug a little bit longer.

Make sure you tell them you love them.

I literally had to hold him down for this picture. He was being goofy.

My Kitchen

Good Morning!

It is chilly and wet here (again!)..although we can't complain too much since the past two days have been quite nice! I am looking forward to a nice relaxing weekend for Mothers Day. I know it won't come tonight though, since Connor is having a friend over for the night!!

Anywho.... this past saturday I woke up bright eyed and bushey tailed, ready to tackle the kitchen! I will say, the cabinets are not finished painted yet....hopefully I will have that completed in the next few weeks! And you will just be getting a sneak peek of of it...I am waiting to show it all until the cabinets are finished! (hopefully not 6 months from now!) One thing at a time, my friend, one thing at a time!! :)

So anyways, I went an picked out paint... me no likey.

It was too light...didn't look right to me...

So off to the store to pick up more paint...a darker grey. Didn't like that either. Too dark!

You can see before, it was a light green. This was painted during my shabby chic phase, right after we bought the house. I painted rooms light yellows, sage greens, baby blues..all pretty colors, but I grew sick of them fast. Loved them at the time, but they became hard for me to decorate for some reason. I felt too glued to one look.

I also think that this is the only room in our house that hasn't been painted at least 3 times! The kitchen is in the back of our house and it was totally out of place, color-wise. The new paint was a welcome change!

Well since it was too dark, and the other too light..what did I do? I mixed the two colors together! And out came the perfect greyish brown color that is perfect! To be honest..I wanted an all white kitchen. And I still kinda do, but I am really liking this color. The white just felt too stale to me in there. And the paint I got for the cupboards is antique white, so there is going to still be a lot of white in there!

So here it is.....

TA_DA!!

There's the old dough bowl from my MIL..It is so big and not too sure where it is going..but for now it is just leaned up against the wall there! That door leads into a little 1/2 bath...and a storage room since there are NO closets downstairs! It is a VERY long bathroom..that whole wall! We were told it was part of a covered porch they enclosed. It is cold in the winter in there. The joys of owning an old home!

I love this old book page I got off Etsy with the bugs! And my two cute twin nieces! Adorable!

I do not have the paint color name since it was mixed by myself! Hopefully I don't ever need to re-paint a whole wall because there is not enough paint to do it! Yikes!

Hopefully I have time to paint the cabinets soon! Once they are done, I will be sure to show you all!

Have a great Mothers Day weekend!! We are keeping it simple with a barbecue at my Grandmas with some aunts and uncles and my Mom of course!!

I want, I need!! And the Royal Wedding of Course!

Whew!

I am just tired watching all the footage of the Royal Wedding! I mean, can you imagine what is going through that girls mind right now? "I am a Princess...I am a Princess!" I wonder if she just keeps repeating that over and over? But the stress and anxiety leading up to this day and knowing that millions of people are watching.

Whoa.

I don't think I could even come close to handling that...and she handled it like a pro! She is so proper and I think she will be perfect for the role of future Queen!

Amazing! Her dress was so pretty! And I loved watching all the horses...I wonder if they knew how important this day was for them!? :)

Anyways....onto other stuff. I want this... perfection! From the sink, to the faucet..the flowers.. the cabinets! Beeauuatiful!

Easter Weekend

Hello!

Happy Easter to you all!

How was your weekend? Ours was nice and relaxing. Saturday we just did some yard work and sunday we headed over to my parents for Easter. There was lots and lots of yummy food. I think I put on 5 lbs. yesterday alone! I need to go for a LONG walk tonight!!

Connor had fun finding eggs and his Easter basket!

After breakfast here we got ready and headed over to my parents..

Connor was the only kid there..and had 74! eggs to find. My mom tends to go a little over-board! :)

Hello!

Today is so blah!

Grey skies..cold wind..grey skies..bitter cold..grey skies! He's got the idea doesn't he!?

Ugh. Grey skies! Where is spring? I feel like every time Easter is approaching, the weather gets cold. I remember wearing sleeveless dresses and NO coat for Easter when I was little. So much for global warming.... I just need sunshine. Sunshine makes me happy!

Connor only has four days of school this week. No school for Good Friday. He has been thinking that Easter is like a mini Christmas for some reason. He wants this Gazuds thing that is a bubble gun that blows of suds...and 3-D DS and a bowling bowl..and and a 50.00 Itunes card. Nice.

My mother in law gave me this the other day!

It's one of those OLD bread bowls. It is really cool and has such great patina!

Connor thinks it's a mini boat.

Not too sure what I am going to do with it.. right now it has pillows in it! Go figure!

I got this in the mail today too!

A cute tin globe! It's old and denty...just how I like it!

I have become obsessed with them lately! I am slowly growing my colllection!

Hi!

I l.o.v.e this bathroom! It has pretty much everything I want in a bathroom. Love the sink. Love the tub. Love the flooring. Love the mirror and shelf! And storage! Score!

We have a busy and cold weekend in front of us. Easter party tomorrow for my moms side of the family. Luckily it is at my cousins house here in town! No far drive this time!

Connor is looking forward to an Easter egg hunt...if the rain holds off! I swear, this time of year in Michigan is soo unpredictable. 70 degrees one day and 40 next! Gheesh!

Evan Almighty

Hello friends!

No decorating ideas, or inspiration pictures today! Sorry! But I have alot I want to share with you.

First, have you ever seen the movie Evan Almighty? It is one of my favorites and Connor loves it too! I have seen it at least 5-6 times and it always makes me tear up at the end. I think that is has some great messages in it that are so thought provoking, that I just had to share them....

If you haven't seen the movie, a short take on it is that is is about a man who comes across God and he tells him to build an arc. Changes start happening to him in his looks, and his every day routine... and his family gets vey upset with him and even embarassed. Steve Carrell is the actor, so there are lots of funny parts as well. Well anyways, things get too weird for his wife and she leaves... on her way to her parents she meets God as a waiter at a restuarant. She obviously has no idea who he is, but he says some things to her that really hit me with that "Aha" moment. Like DUH!

So, he says...

"Some may pray for more patience, but God doesn't give them more patience, he gives them the opportunity to be patient."

Or you pray to love more and instead he gives you the opportunity to love and be loved.

Maybe you pray to be more kind to others. Instead he gives you the opportunity to be more kind to others.

Think about it. It makes sense, right?

How many times have you wondered why you can't be more patient with your child, your husband, your co-workers..ect.? And the answer is sitting right there in front of you?

I need to work on this more! Many times I am rushing Connor to get out the door to school. He always starts getting distracted right when it is time to put his shoes on and go! Why do I get upset? Three minutes extra is not going to make us late! So why even get impatient and angry with him? "No big deal"- that is what I need to say! I am going to start working on that!

This time of year is always a good time to reflect of the things you could work on in your life. Things that you might need to change, whether it is how you pray, what you pray for, the areas you want to spend more time in your day...just the way you want to better your life!

Now, I know I am not in any position to preach to anyone, but maybe next time you say a prayer for something simple like, "more time to spend with loved ones", look deep to see where there is opportunity to spend with loved ones. It might be easier than you think!

Brick Walls...And Fixed Teeth

Hello!

I wish I had before and after pictures to show you, but someone wouldn't let me take them...

Anyways, Connors teeth are fixed and they turned out sooo good! He started with one half a tooth and one dorito-like shaped, or vampiresque like tooth. Yesterday after school he ended with two, perfect, like new teeth! He was soo happy and just kept looking in the mirror, shocked that they could fix them that good! Relief!

On a different note- Do you like brick walls in homes? I do! I do!

I have always loved the look and the interest they give a room. This one has been a fav. of mine for a long time. I love the mix of styles.

And then this one...so cool in a bathroom!

I love the rug!

My house does not have any brick...but I am not sure it would look right in my house! So there are no brick walls in the future for me! :( But I love to look!

Oh What A Week...

Hello!

We have had quite a week around here...whew. Connor has been on spring break all week...he went to a spring break day camp that the Parks and Rec had here for kids 6-12 and had a blast. It was everyday from 9-3, which gave us a nice break and he wasn't so bored since we were not going anywhere this year. That was, until tursday when I got a call that he had fallen and broke BOTh his front teeth.

Yup.

Two big, front permanent teeth.

Awesome.

So one emergency trip to the dentist and he is feeling a bit better. He had a bloody nose..and a big flat bloody lip and was holding a little medicine cup with his two teeth.

We go back on tuesday to fix the rest of the damage!

Then last night was supposed to be pizza and movie night and I came down with a terrible headache and terrible nausea. No pizza or movie for me. :(

We were supposed to go shopping today for some new spring clothes for Connor but we are now going to go tomorrow, hubby went a poker tournament, I still don't feel great! But on the bright side, we have some beeeaautiful spring weather today!

Love Me Some Globes...

Hi!

My computer is at the computer doctors....seeing if it can get fixed. I really, really hope that they can at least get my pictures off of there, b/c I would be LOST without them!! I have hundreds and hundreds..and stupidly never saved them elsewhere. Ugh. My husband was nice enough to leave his laptop with me today again!

Anyways, I have a new major obsession. Globes. I have for a little while and am slowly accumulating a few of them. 5 to be exact. And one on it's way that I won on Ebay this weekend! Eventually I want like 50! Ok..maybe not that many, I'm not that greedy, but I would like a few more. I also really want a black one.. but they are quite more expensive for some reason. I can't wait to check out garage sales and flea markets this summer to see if I can find any!

Aren't they lovely in a group...

And sitting alone they are beautiful.

And quite educational...Connor loves looking at them and the different countries!

A Few Favorites..

Hello!

How was your weekend? I've got some new things to show you.. in a few days, once I get some good pictures and my computer working. I am on my husbands right now..mine seems to have a weird thing going on with it and I can't get into anything on there... so please be patient!

I made new (again) curtains for my dining room, in an adorable grey and white chipper print fabric. I got my new rugs in the living room and family room, and got my 2 chairs back that I had reupolstered in my new favorite fabric--- dropcloths!! After they are washed, they are just fabulous! I made new living room curtains out the them too, and love them! Spring has sprung! Well, not quite here in Michigan..still quite cold, but looking up!

So for today I just have some favorite pictures that were saved on my hubbies computer a long time ago! I looked through them and had forgotten all about how great some were...and how inspiring the rooms were and how they make me want to make similiar changes in my home!

Wow. I haven't had a post in about a week. Yikes. I have just been sooo busy with everything...trying to get caught up a bit on pillows ( I am so behind, not because I am not working my hiney off on them, just b/c there are lots o' orders). Not complaining about the orders, just wishing there were a bit more time in the day! Plus Connors spring break starts tomorrow and I know it will be hard to get orders done while he is home all week!

Sooo...just a quick pic of a new fabulous pillow in my shop. I know it is a tad pricey, but it is ALOT of work and oooohhh so gorgeous in person! I love it!

How was your weekend?

Mine was nice and lazy, with a couple long walks and three (yes!3) movies under my belt.

That is pretty rare for me. I am not a huge movie person, kinda goes in spurts. WOn't watch a movie for months and then..3 in one day!

ANywho..

today I am loving these fun, eclectic rooms, full of charm and character and interest. Aren't they great. So unusual and cool.

MIA and The Bachelor

Hi!

I am such a bad blogger! I have been MIA for almost a week now. Goodness.

We headed up north this weekend to Traverse City for a little weekend get-away. All Connor wanted to do was swim, so he had a blast there. With TC being in the off season, we were able to get a really nice hotel for super cheap! Score! So now we are back and it is back to making pillows for patiently (and sometimes unpatiently) waiting customers! I know it is a super long wait for a pillow (8-9 weeks!) but I am doing my best to keep up with the orders! Please understand! :)

Anywho.. this is one of my new fav pillows.

It is sooo adorable in person!

On another note...

Did you happen to watch the final bachelor last night? What did you think? Did you watch "After The Final Rose" as well? I found it very interesting. I really, really thought Emily was going to go home in tears. I am soo glad he picked her though because I think she deserves to be happy.

He seems soo smitten over her, but I worry she doesn't feel the same. She seemed distant to him after the finale. Did you think so too? I hope it works out for them.

I Take It Back..

The whole, " I need lots of color in my life" rant. I do not. I was wrong. While I do want a little bit of color, I do not need alot. I know. My mind is crazy weird. But after getting a few accessories with color, I am already sick of them. Pieces that I bought years ago in brown, black, silver, white, cream, grey, ect...not so sick of yet. So, there you have it.

Where does this leave me then?

Well, I will still for sure be bringing in color through small doses of pillows, maybe a bowl, or colorful throw blanket. But big items, like rugs and such.... Not so much! Live and learn my friends, live and learn.

I guess this is the look I am going for. Do you see how it is neutral, yet it has a little quirkiness about it and it is not boring beige at all. I guess it goes back to the whole "texture" thing and layering pieces correctly.

I know I have showed this picture before, but it is a fav for sure! I love the calmness of it, yet the fun pillows and accessories.

Does anyone else have this "disorder" of mine?

New Rug....Me No Likey

Color Confirmation

Hey Peeps!

Ok...so via my post yesterday, which was all about needing some color, pattern, texture..ect in my home, I came across these photos and it only confirmed my suspicions. For now. I NEED some more color. I l.o.ve. the neutrals and the creams and whites. But there is no saying that I can't have that as well. I can have all of that and also add in some jolts of pizazz in greens and yellows and blues.. Ok, ok..I am nervous to admit this, but I just ordered two more rugs..they are TOTALLY out of my comfort zone and I cannot wait for them to get here!! I will give you a couple hints..one is an animal print and one has all the colors of the rainbow in it! Yikes! I got big plans for these babies though and I can't wait to show you!

So, you see...I am going to keep all the big things, ie- couch, chairs, walls, furniture neutral. Then I am trying to punch it up a bit with colors from my lamps, blankets, rugs, and pillows. Fun! Fun! We shall see how long this is going to last. I just feel like I need some "fun" in the house and adding some pattern will spruce it up I am sure!

Craving Color...

Howdy!

So, lately, I don't know if it is just spring fever or what, but I have been craving lots and lots of color and pattern. Which is so different than where I was last year! I am nervous to take the leap to more color, but every picture I see that I like, makes me want to bring more into my rooms. I still like the white(ish) walls and such, but want to bring more color in through pillows, rugs, lamps..ect...

Take a look at these rooms. They are some of my favorites, in the way they bring in color with accessories in just the right dose!

Aren't they fun and happy rooms? While I LOVE the all white and monochromatic look, for some reason I am now drawn to more color and they make me feel good. And I want to feel good. :) Life is about surronding yourself with things that make you feel good, so therefore I will be adding more color. That's right! I am taking charge and doing it! Whew. That felt good. I know. I am weird.

What do you think about the rooms above and color? I know there is ALOT of white on white out there..but I would love to know what you think!

Have you ever watched Dear Genevieve on HGTV? I love her! She does some great rooms and this one is one of my favorite!

Another crazy busy weekend down the drain!

Connor's birthday was yesterday and we just had the grandparents over for pizza and cake and icecream.

We went to Chuck- E -Cheeses two weekends in row. Too much. Too much.

I felt like I needed to powerwash my hands.

Last weekend he took his cousin with us and this weekend Grandma and I took him. There is nothing my kid loves more than cheap , plastic toys that he can win with coins and tickets. Nice. I've raised him well!

Well...except maybe an I-Pod Touch..

We barely heard a peep out of him after that.

He picked out this cake..No time for mom to make one this weekend. But I DID make 2 1/2 dozen cupcakes for his class last night at 9:00 and frosted them at 7 this morning. No pics..but they turned out pretty cool with Neon green frosting. I used Meg's Rainbow Cupcake recipe. It is alot of fun!

ANyways..his cake. He asked the later to put "Congrats Connor" on it. No Happy Birthday. He wanted "Congrats!" Weird. But whatever floats his boat.

It was a good weekend and now today is my husbands birthday! The last week of february is sooo busy! I will be happy to have things slow down a bit for March!

And lastly, my new rug and curtains- which were made from drop cloths.

Have you ever seen anything upholstered in drop cloths? I am in love with the texture of them after being washed and dried and am curious to see what they would look like on a chair.... What do you think?

I Heart--- Neutrals With Pops of Black

Do you ever look at a room and think, "that rooms got "it"? " I do. And I seem to find that rooms that I get that from, have texture, depth and a sense of balance. I think that black helps to "balance" rooms and give them that depth they need. Now, while I do not have alot of black in my home, I now know that I need to incorporate a bit more in them to get this feeling I get when I see pictures like the ones below!

What are your feelings on black? Love it? Hate it? Like it in small doses? I used to use it alot, and then liked the pops of white more. Out went the black and in went the white. Now I am changing back again! Luckily my husband loves me. :) I change rugs and curtains and pillows like most women change shoes! While I will not be going out and buying doses and doses of black pieces, I will be adding some texture to my rooms with some darker accessories! ( i think!)

Cozy Beds...

With spring right around the corner *fingers crossed* I find myself lingering more in bed when I get the chance! Pretty soon the weather will turn warmer and lazing around in bed isn't as cozy then!

I love all these rooms and the coziness about them. They all make you want to jump in, snuggle up and stay awhile!

Love the brick wall behind this one and the brown and blue color scheme.

Probably my fav bedroom- EVER- Love everything about it. Wouldn't change a thing!!

Pottery Barn has a way to make any bed look comfy!

My husband is going to kill me. I normally do not purchase big money objects without telling *asking* :) him first, but I did yesterday and I purchased this rug online.....

The white shag rug is still itchy for Connor, it is SUPER duper hard to keep clean with cat hair and dog hair (you were right mom, and dad, and grandma, and everyone else but me!!) ...not to mention it sheds like C-r-A-Z-y!! So, it will be going in our bedroom and this one will be going in place of the shag in the living room. It is still a 6x9 which fits perfectly in there. I had an 8x10 once and it was just a bit too odd looking in that room for some reason. I am hoping this one works!!! :-/

What do you think of it? Be honest!

Hello!

So this weekend you know I said we were taking Connor to Chuck E Cheese for his birthday..we did and I couldn't help but go into TJ Maxx while there, since it is literally 2 seconds away from Chucks. I had a gift card from Christmas still...that I actually lost (think it got thrown away in the wrapping paper jumble.) But they happily were able to cancel that one and get me a new one! Wahoo! So...while there were MANY things I wanted there, once I saw this, I knew it had to come home with me!

Isn't it lovely! I really wish I could have gotten both, but we had the car and two other kids in tow. We litterally packed the kiddos in like sardines in the back seat and fit this baby in there with them! Ha! After I bought it and got it in the car, I ran back in to see if they would possible hold the other one for me (remember I live an hour away!) and thought I could make it back there next weekend, but a lady had it already in line to buy it!! What a bummer! Going back in wasn't all a loss though, I got two cute shirts! Clothes there are so reasonable. 14.99 each. What a steal!

It reminds me so much of the chairs at Restoration Hardware for 400.00 plus!

Hi!

Just another busy day around here! I am working really hard getting out a large wholesale order for a lovely lady in Australia! I also have 25 zippers to put in pillows! Yikes! Connor had a 1/2 day of school today, parent teacher conferences tonight, no school tomorrow, the weekend, and no school monday! Lucky kid! I think we are going to head to Chuck-E- Cheeses for his birthday this weekend...his birthday isn't officially till next weekend, but it is over an hour away and we are supposed to be having good weather and then crappy weather next week. So it just makes sense!

I woke up with a sore throat too this morning! Yuck. No fun.

I have so many things I want to share with you, but no time to clean up the rooms spick and span to get them photo worthy! Ahh! Anyways, I guess I will just show you this wonderful, beautious room that I love.

Bad news for my rugs....for some odd reason, Connor broke out in a bad rash friday night...we think it may be the wool rug. He was red and blotchy and itchy. So we are going to take it out of the room and see if it clears up. I am suspicious though, because I have had several wool rugs before that have never caused a problem. Hmm... We shall see!

I made some new pillow covers for my shop. These ones are easy ones in great, fun prints and they are ready to ship! No long wait like all the others in my shop! New Rugs

Yippee!! My new rugs came and I have to say I am impressed! I especially love the white shag one. It is sooo soft and thick and cushy! Connor loves it. I have yet to get a good picture of the one other...not good lighting in there makes it look like it has a metallic look to it and it totally does not.

So here is the shag one..

I treated myself to some tulips too! I has been soo cold here, -18 this morning and I needed a little spring in the house. Aren't they so pretty!?

Love them!

I moved the large seagrass rug into the dining room. Once I get that put together, I will show you!

So for now, we are loving our extra soft replacement!

The Gift That Keeps On Giving

So, Santa got Connor a guinea pig for Christmas.

Our cable is out.

Our driveway is still not plowed.

It won't be till after 2 this afternoon.

We are going stir crazy.

The snow plow went through a pushed a 4 foot driftt in our driveway.

It is cold.

And blizzardy.

They are calling it Snownado... SnowMG.. Stormagedon... Snowpocolypse

And right now, looking outside my window, I feel they are right. We have 352 cancellations in our area right now. Wow. We have 40 mph winds outside and a drift over our fence, taller than me!

So, I wish I was here all day today...

Instead I will be making these...

If you're battling this storm as well...try to stay warm and be safe if you have to travel anywhere!! If you are on the West Coast in 70 degree weather... um... please don't gloat!

Rug Decision

Hello!

First off, thank you all for your input on my rug dilema! I know, big dilema...but I have serious commitment problems to home decor! I like to change things up, on a monthly, sometimes weekly basis. And it can get quite amusing...and expensive. So to make my husband happy, I need to make decisions that I can live with for awhile....at least 6 months! ;) Ha!

No, I seriously think I can live with these for awhile. Yes..I ended up purchasing two of them. I chose this one...

Which might be a little hard to keep clean...but I did have one from Target a few years back and it help up pretty good. This one from Overstock seems alot fluffier, and cushy though than the Target one. I am hoping it wears better. I ordered it in the 6x9....the same size as the seagrass one in there now. I am keeping my fingers crossed.

The other one I ordered, not too many people picked..but for some odd reason I could not stop thinking about it. Weird. I know. It is only a rug, but when I saw it, I couldn't get it out of my head for 48 hours. So, I had to purchase it, right?! I think it is eclectic and a bit different. And it is a 6 foot square rug, that I know would work either in the living room, the family room..or even would go great in our bedroom. It is this one...

Something about it, I love. Nothing like I have seen before..and to me it kinda looks old..and worn. Like I like.

So there it is...I hope they come soon! I am so impatient!

On another note, I ordered this mongolian faux fur fabric. They first sent me the wrong fur, so I contacted them and they said they did indeed ship out the wrong stuff and that they would send me the right stuff asap. I was pleasantly surprised that they sent a whole extra yard "for my troubles!" Yippee! This is farely expensive at 30.00/yard, so what a great outcome!

Isn't is deliciously cozy looking?!

I think I might make some pillows out of it...although it looks nice, folded up like a blanket... We'll see.

Hi there!

Ok...I need your help please! I am looking for a new rug for our living room and came across some great ones on Overstock.com

The problem is, I am a terrible decision maker and would just like some opinions. I have ordered only one other rug from there (a jute one) and was pretty happy with it. I am just nervous to order a big purchase like this online without seeing or feeling it!

Anyways, I came across these few. They are going to replace the large seagrass one (which I love, but it is just too rough on Connors knees and he plays in there alot). So it will move into another room where he plays less!

Texture

Hi!

How are you? This week has been crazy! Monday school had a delay, tuesday Connor was home sick, yesterday school was cancelled from bad weather, today is a full day (amen!) and tomorrow is a scheduled 1/2 day! This weekend is my birthday (yeehaw!) and then monday is another scheduled 1/2 day! Gheesh! Connor also has a doctor appointment tomorrow afternoon! Wowzer. No wonder the weeks are flying by. What are your weekend plans?

Today I thought I would share some great rooms that have very little color, but tons of texture! This makes the room soo less bland and so much more interesting. I think the key to decorating in whites and creams, and greys is to add a bunch of texture. Whether it comes in rugs, pillows, window treatments or throw blankets...there are a ton of ways to add texture and coziness to sometimes "cold" decor.

Take a look at how these rooms accomplish this:

The wicker chairs add some great texture to all the hard edges.

The adorable little sink skirt adds so much to this room!

Again, the wicker chair, as well as the chicken wire in the doors. Glass would give this a totally different look, but the chicken wire is superb!

Here sthe bed skirt offers the texture. As well as the chippy blue table. I love chippy pieces! They add so much character to room!

Here it can be as simple as some branches in a vase.

I just love all the different textures going on here. Love rusty water can, the stone backsplash and the wooden countertop. Perfect-o!

A Sick Boy and a Globe...

Yesterday I had a sick boy at home. Around here you get lots of sympathy from our furry friends too when you are ill.

I have been wanting one in this color forever! I finally broke down and bought one on ebay! I also bought another blue "regular" globe, but the base cracked via transit. I am going to see if I can glue it. It still stands..but is wobbley. Bummer! I am addicted to globes right now for some reason! Love them! What about you? What do you collect? I also love white and cream ironstone. Have you seen the new Country Living with all those white dishes? Heaven!

Bits of My Weekend Re-Arranging Extravaganza

So, as promised here are some pics from this weekends re-arranging extravaganza! It really did take me all weekend, morning to night to get all this done. I am a slow worker, figuring things out as I go and deciding on whether it works for me or not. Things can moved 4 or 5 times before they feel right! I am still tweaking some things, but here are a few pics of what I did!

Moved a table in the living room.

If you don't remember, it used to be here.... this is the table I got for 5.00 and painted it white!

Moved the couch against the other wall. I only have two walls in there the couch can go on. :(

Something had to go here since the table was moved! This was the lucky winner! Another old table from a flea market, basket from Tj Maxx.

Tried a blue/grey rug I had in the upstairs closet. It used to be in here.

Nope. Didn't work. Back to the seagrass one! Much better!

Another old table that had been in our basement. My lovely hubby helped carry this up for me. He actually carried this up, a dresser from upstairs down, and my large heavy fabric cabinet upstairs. My back still hurts from that one. We have one tricky turn on our stairs that was not fun! I might have sworn. :)

Yellow pillow. Much better! Now I need one more coordinating fabric to make another...on the hunt for that!!

Bathroom Inspiration

Hello!

I had a lovely lady as for some bathroom inspiration! Ask, and you shall recieve!

These pics are just a few of my favorite bathrooms I've seen. I will try to post more some other day as well! When we bought our house, our bathrooms were both carpeted in yucky brown carpet. Out that came and in tile went. Our bathrooms are still a work in progress..but not something we plan on dropping thousands of dollars on since we plan to move in the near future and know that it is not something we would get our money back in at this time. We did however, lay new flooring, get a new toilette, new sink and new paint (maybe more than three or four times! :). Just the basic upgrades.

Anyways..here are some great inspiration for bathrooms!

Lovely Neutrals With Pops of Color!

Hi!

Lately I have been so smitten with neutral rooms with that pop on unexpected color. It just waked up and revives a rooms personality! While I do love all whites, and creams and greys, lately I have been drooling over these images.

While I am no professional interior decorater, I get what these pics are after. They take one color and just work with that one. I love white rooms with just a pop of yellow...or khaki walls and linen furniture with a pop of green in the pillows or a rug. It really brings attention to the color you are trying to emphasize. I notice then, the problem with my living room. That was what I was trying to achieve...but I think I have too much of the aqua color I was going for, and in too much variation. Time to eliminate! Over the next few weeks, I will try to accomplish this!

Browns NOT Boring!

I love brown. I have a brown chair, I have a light brown bedskirt... brown rugs, ect. That's a lot right!? I just have never painted a wall brown and I really want to! Well, my upstairs bathroom is a very light brown, biege color. But I mean a dark, rich brown like this one..

I need Your Help...

So, just a quick pop in to get your opinion. This is my TV area. We have a TON of cords coming out of there from the TV, cable box, DVD player, and the Wii. Therefore, I have that sheep painting kinda blocking them. The thing is, I am getting sick of the sheep.

The little pieces that you put over the cords just don't work... We have too many cords. Any ideas on what I can put there besides the painting? Or do you like the painting? I thought about a picture, blown up larger...but haven't found a frame that looks right... oh the delimas! ;-)

So what are your suggestions? I am open to anything! Well...almost anything!

Christmas 2010

Hi! I hope everyone had a great Christmas! I can't believe that it is already done and over with! Gheesh. Where does the time go?

We spent Christmas Eve over at my grandparents and then over at my parents house the remainder of the night. It is always nice with lots of good food! We didn't get home till super late, and then were woken up early to see if Santa came. He did, indeed! It is always a rush then after that, with showers to take, a house full of torn wrapping paper to clean up and breakfast to start because we have my parents, grandparents and my mother in law over for Christmas brunch. Every year I tell myself we aren't going to do it- because we can't relax in the morning, but I still do it every year and I love it after it is done!

And Santa did bring him mind flex and a guinea pig. He namded is guinea pig "Big Mama". It is quite cute and pics will come!

We have a party to attend to today and I have yet to make my appetizer, wrap my gifts, decide what I am wearing, shower, decide what my husband and child are wearing, feed the animals, and run to the post office. Oh, and I have about 3 hours to do all this. Yet, I am sitting her writing on my blog. Well, I just wanted to show you some pics of the tree. Connor and I decorated it yesterday, after it fell down once. It is now secured to the window. I sure hope it does not fall again. Pine needles were everywhere, including sticking into my toe. Ouch.

So, here are some pictures. I realize some are fuzzy...not really sure why. But you get the idea of what the tree looks like!

I go full color on the tree for some reason. I do not like a ton of color in my house, but I like it on the tree. Full and sparkly. There is no method to the madness, I just throw on the ornaments where I feel like they are needed and voila!

Some Fabulous Christmas Decor Inspiration

While I know many of you are all finished up with your holiday decorating...and enjoying it, there are a few of us *ahem*...that are not. (me). So, I thought I would share some wonderful pictures of some of my favorite Christmas rooms around the blogosphere!

On a good note- we did get a tree last night. At 9:00. In the pitch dark. With a flash light. It was COVERED, and I mean, covered in snow and ice. We really couldn't tell what it was going to look like, but I felt bad for the tree farm owner and picked one quick, since he did take us out to the woods at 9:00. It is up now and melting in the living room. I have several old towels underneath it, catching the drip. Oy. Tomorrow it should be dried out and ready to deocrate! I will be sure to post some pics!

Anywho. Onto the fabulous inspiration pics. I wish I knew where they all came from...I am terrible at that.

But....enjoy them!

Wow..sorry about the lack of posts. I have been sooo busy, not to mention school has been off for a few days due to a severe blizzard in Michigan! We got more snow in 2 days than I would have ever imagined! Plus, I am working hard gettting out all of the Christmas orders in my shop!

But I though I would share just a few snaps of my totally under-decorated house right now! Ignore the little shots of me in my jammies reflecting in alot of them! :) Confession- we don't even have a tree yet. We were going to cut one down on sunday and then the blizzard came. So, we are getting one tonight. I am nervous, b/c my husband is doing it solo on his way home from work. Yikes. The last time he did that we had a total Charlie Brown tree.

Ok, I've always loved wreaths in windows and these pictures are just soo darn pretty! I especially love the BIG real wreaths. They smell so great! Just a few pics to enjoy- my grandma is on her way to help me sew today! Then tomorrow we are off for the night to Traverse City. We used to live there and it will be great to go back, even just for a night!

Hola'! So, how was your week? Mine went by so fast, I barely remember it! Gheesh! Connor had a friend come over after school yesterday and stay the night. They just left and now comes the time to clean up the tornado two youngins can make. His room is TRASHED! And, it is snowing! Lots of snow coming down right now..most of the snow from the other day melted, so it will be nice to have a fresh batch here!

Anyways, onto trees. Have you seen all the pics around the web with large trees in the house? I'm not talking Christmas trees.... Some are actually just large branches. I actually happen to love it. Do you? Let me know what you think!

Crazy Weekend!

Whew! This whole past few days have been a blur! With family to visit, people over, dinners to eat, a parade to attend, it was all so busy and went by so fast. How was your holiday? I just have time to post a few parade pictures. It was a really nice parade, but COLD!

Free Table Fixed Up!

Hey there!

So here is the table that I mentioned my Grandma garbage picked for me! Can you believe that my Grandpa wanted to burn it and my Grandma told him "No!!" She thought I could fix it up and she was right! It turned out super cute!

She knows me well.

I am putting it in between my two living room chairs....I will try to post some pics! I also got my walls re-painted in the dining room. Orange..

With Thanksgiving right around the corner and fall in full swing now (almost winter! yikes! where does the time go???) I thought I would share some rooms with vibrant (and sub-dued) hints of orange. Orange is not a color I would normally go to for my house, but I found this fabric in a burnt-like orange and khaki and am completely smitten with it. It may be made into pillows soon! If it does, pics will come! I also have a fun little table re-do to share in the next few days! So stay tuned. Anyways, onto the orange!

Crazy Busy Week...Month

Yikes-o. We have such a busy rest of the month, with more than 2 Thanksgiving feasts coming up- alot of traveling and school stuff and Etsy shop stuff, and decorating stufff and painting stuff, and a parade to attend....whew! I am tired just thinking of everything we have to do! And I can't believe the month is already half done! More to come on that all though later.

So, how was your weekend? My girls weekend was fun- we had lots of laughing and drinks. Have you ever played the game Apples to Apples or "Things"? Funny. I don't think we play them quite exactly like others would, but we laugh so hard, we cry. Lots-o fun! ;)

With Thanksgiving right around the corner, and then Christmas right after that, I am trying to get every odd end thing finished up and ready for the holidays. Like, where are we going to put the tree this year? This is always an issue, since I love stuff and have alot of stuff. This year though, when re-arranging furniture a few months back, I made sure to think about this and have a great spot for it. Tree spot- check. I also want to finish finishing my couple months long job of painting my kitchen cabinets before Christmas. We always have Christmas brunch here with my parents and Grandparents and would like that finished. Will it be done though? I doubt it. I know they won't mind. They probably won't even notice that half are painted and half aren't. Oh well.

My Grandma garbage picked me an adorable table that is on my "to paint" list. I will be sure to post before and after pics of it when I get around to that! I really want to get that finished this week. Has anyone ever spray painted an entire table without priming it frst? If so, let me know how it turned out and if I have to sand it first.

Gorgeous Entrys

Nothing makes a great first impression in a home than the entry. I've always wanted to pull something amazing off in our entry, but just can't seem to get it right. I want something that fits our personality and to flow with the rest of the house. Our entry has been a mustard color, a greyish beige color, a dark blue, light blue and now creamy white. It isn't too big...we have a bench and small end table in there. Plus all the shoes and boots that pilw up in there too! I just consider us lucky to have one. I do however like entrys that are "made" with a console table or chair..... here are some inspiration pics of some of my favorite entry rooms.

First off....whew...we had quite the night last night! Our little Inge dog went missing (got out of the fenced backyard somehow) and we couldn't fine him anywhere! This was about 4:00. Then about 7:00 I hear from someone that saw him down by the Rite-Aide... which is about 7 blocks away, across the main road. Nuts. I freak out thinking he is going to get hit and jump in the car (again) to go looking for him (again). We called animal control, the police station, the local radio station. Nothing. So we call it a night of looking. We wake up this morning. No dog. Sad. :( I take Connor to school, get home and the phone rings. It is our vet and someone brought in Inge! Yippee! When my husband talked to the policeman, he said that today there were 3 other missing dogs. Must be something in the air! Needless to say, Connor was psyched when he got home from school and Inge was here!

Bad dog. But we are happy to have him home!

Anyways, this picture is one of my favs. Just love it!

Holiday Inspirations!

Good Monday ya'll! How was your weekend? Mine was spent shop, shop shopping! I spent the whole day saturday, with my mom and child-free! We went to just about every store I have been wanting to go into for months! It was a much deserved (long) day away. We left at nine in the morning and didn't get home till 9 at night! I got lots of new fall/winter clothes and surprisingly only one house item! Gheesh! It is a little white porcelain skeleton ket from a little ol' place called TJ Maxx! And only 3.99! I do not have a picture to share yet- I will try to snap one today! It is darling! There was sooo many things I wanted in that store. I wish I would have had my camera with me to snap some pictures! I loved this one lamp- it was mustard yellow bottom with a linen/burlap like shade- adorable! And this rug- but I don't need a rug right now- so I passed. But it was wool and chunky with a very neutral design on it. Darn. I should have bought it. :( Maybe it will be there next time....

Anyways..I thought you could need some lovely inspiration on this monday morning! I still feel like it is a bit early to talk Christmas, but I have seen sooo much this weekend, I thought I would share some images too!

Warm and Cozies

Brr......yesterday was a cold and rainy day! It sure was a wake up call of what is ahead of us! I don't like it! The cold weather never use to bother more, but man, getting into a cold car just isn't fun in the morning! I think I need a remote starter to warm it up for me!

The colder days have more wanting more coziness in the house. I found these fantastic rooms that just feel cozy to me! How do you add warmth to your home in the winter months? Do you bring out more blankets? Warmer colors? Richer shades? While I don't have many jewel tones in my home, I try to bring in more browns and more texture too. I think these rooms do a good job.....

Hope you all have a great weekend! I am off saturday to spend a much needed day of shopping with my mom alone! Sooo looking forward to it!

Halloween 2010

Whew...sorry for being gone so long! This past week has flewn right by in a blink! Halloween weekend was great! Weather was chilly, but I don't think it even phased Connor! Lovely Stairs

Latley I have been drawn to beautiful stairs and staircases. I wish ours was more interesting. I also wish we had a big open staircase! Aren't each and every one of these wonderful?

Today I am going to clean, clean and clean and make pillows! My Grandma was here helping yesterday, so I have alot to ship out today! On a sad note, Leonard (my MIL's boyfriend), passed away yesterday. Please say a prayer for their family. I did not know him too well, but my husband actually introduced them a couple years back, when he was a customer of my husands, and both of them being "new" widows, kind of connected and they formed a special relationship. It is sad for her to have to go through this twice in 7 years!

So, I hope you all have a great day! We have high wind warnings in Michigan today! It is VERy windy out!

Happy Monday!

I hope you all had a great weekend! We had a fun saturday (Halloween Party) and then a sad sunday. :( My mother in laws "boy- friend" is on hospice right now and we went to visit him. He is not doing well at all- not even able to open his eyes or communicate. It is really sad, my mother in law lost her husband (my husbands father) about 7 years ago and now she is going to lose him. That poor lady, what she has been through. So please send prayers out to them!

On a happier note, I was scouring the internet for lovely room inspirations and came across these beauties!

And now... I have been finding soo many interesting and intriguing pictures online. They are all so inspiring and make me question my own decorating ideas on a daily basis! It is a good and evil thing. I love looking at all the fabulous rooms, but it also makes me want to change up my home on a daily basis. Do I think I will ever be "settled" in my own decorating woes. No. Never. Do I want to be? No!! I have yet to find that balance yet though, of not wanting to change everything when I see a picture of something I love and want in my own home. But I think that not settling, keeps your home interesting and full of surprises. I have many people tell me they love coming to my house, just to see how I changed things around. ( Now that I write that, I guess they don't come to see me?????!) Hmm..

Anyways, my point is. Don't ever feel like you have to settle for a specific decor. I feel like if I put things I love into my home, it will all make sense to me and make my home feel happy. You don't have to be labeled "shabby chic" or "modern" or anything else like that. (unless of course you want to and that is what makes YOU happy!) But I am finding that if I decorate my home with my heart , everything else falls into place the right way!
