Merry Christmas!!

I have been trying to slow down and enjoy the festivities beofore the grand finale! Connor and I made a (*boxed*) gingerbread house! I am not brave enough to make one from scratch! I also got some cute pics of him and Kirby wearing reindeer ears. As you can tell, Kirby is a little camera shy. I think this was take 43.

As a mother, I want to create as many special memories for my son as the years go on. He is growing up so quickly and pretty soon he will be too big to enjoy these little moments with! *tear*! :( So I think I am going to make some crafts with him this evening, he loves crafts. I still have about 25 gifts to wrap and a few last minute things to pick up, including food for Christmas brunch at out house! Whew....ok...I should go! Merry Christmas!!

Tis' The Season To Be Jolly....

Fa lalalalalallalalala........ :) Oh man, how I wish I had a clone right now. One that could stuff pillows, one that could wrap presents and one that could wash the floors. Wouldn't that be nice! I am trying not to stress about my huge to-do list. Trying. ***deep breaths* Ok....so I will try to get some pictuers up of my little guy and our "reindeer" aka- Kirby dog tonight. My computer is in the fix it place and I have to use my husbands laptop he takes back and forth to his office until mine is back! Ugh....how did I ever live without a computer? Ha! So here are some "simple", inspiring pics. All via FLICKR!

It's Pretty Simple.

Holiday decorating doesn't have to feel stressful. This year, I am going the simple route and decorating sparsely and more "naturally". I think a few wow factors are great- but take this simple branch display with a few vintage looking bulbs (found via flickr). It is so cute and so easy to make. Just go outside, take a few branches off a tree and put them in a pretty bucket, or urn and hang a few ornaments from it! You can't get much simpler than that! I did this one year, but also spray painted the branches white- it gave it a more shabby chic look to it, but you can leave them all natural. Or go more mod and spray them black..or yellow...or pink! The possibilities are endless with a can of spray paint! So are you going all out this year, or for a more "simple" look?

Wall Shelfs

I picked up these two shelfs for a buck each at the thrift store awhile back and had issues hanging them, so they have just been sitting around collecting dust. But after my friend came over and helped me re-arrange some things, this wall was empty and the perfext size to fit them! It is the room across from my dining room. I fixed the hanging problem by simply nailing new claw hooks in the back of them and Voila! Instant fix and now they hang much better!

My Dining Room Makeover

My friend and I went crazy the other night and re-arranged with whole house. You can see some of the before pics in earlier blog posts, but we moved the settee in the dining room which I have been wanting to do for some time now and when I saw it again and again in magazines, I finally went ahead and did it! The room in the first picture isn't quite done and I will get more pics in better light (these were taken at night). But the window is where the settee used to be! That room feels so much bigger now! I just love the way it turned out!

New at Dedeetsyshop

Some new items in my etsy shop! If you want, you can check them out at http://www.dedeetsyshop.etsy.com/ I've got some great gifts for the holidays! :)

Happy Thursday

I LOVE the simple, rustic/industrial look to these rooms! I had a friends come over last night and transformed my dining room and family room! Now I am in full on cleaning mode this morning. I am having a group of friends over tonight and then going to the midnight showing of New Moon! Sooo excited! Yes- I am one of them, not one of the screaming, fainting, giggling girls. But, I did love the series and Twilight, so I am super excited to see New Moon!

Sleeping Beauties

These bedrooms are just dreamy (if you're saying, geesh, that first picture is not a bedroom, I can explain! I just thought the cabinet in there would look great in a bedroom holding pretty sweaters, or extra linens!) I could imagine either of these rooms in my house, they are so lovely! I just am in love with the bed in the first bedroom and that chandelier! Love it! And look at the delicate painting on the last pictures bed frame! Adorable! I just bought a new duvet cover for my bed! I am liking it but feels like other changes need to be made now! Do you ever do that...buy one little fixer upper and then it snowballs into other changes?! Oh, my poor husband! He sure puts up with alot from me!

Favorites

Here are some more of my favorites! I have had a lot of kitchens on my mind lately because I really want to paint our kitchen cabinets white! I have been talking about it for some time now and I just can't seem to find the time to get it done! And the next couple weeks aren't looking good either. I really wanted to have them done by the holidays but that doesn't look like it is going to happen! :( I love the card holders in the second to last picture. I bought some hooks and wire today and I am going to try and rig something up like that for my little guys artwork! Well I am off to the sewing machine again! My Etsy shop orders are taking up a ton of my time lately- but I am NOT complaining!! :)
Have a wonderful rest of the sunday!

More Rooms I LOVE!

I love all of these rooms. And I guess it shows my love of all different styles. I love shabby chic, industrial, cottage, rustic, eclectic...the list goes on and on! All of these rooms have that coziness I like, without being overly cluttered and clausterphobic! (sp)? Aren't those bird cages from the bed just the best?! And that cabinet in the bathroom? Perfect for holding towels and such! I love how the ottoman is fraying and so imperfect- just how I like it! And in that bedroom- look at all those mismatched shutters! How neat is that!? I also love that chair in that room too! The last picture is just lovely! The white painted floors, the white hutch, the little skirts on the chairs- too cute! What is your favorite decorating style? I don't know if I could choose! Mine changes on a monthly basis! :)

Have a wonderful weekend! Are you getting ready for Thanksgiving?

Fall Decor

Wow! With Halloween already past us and Thanksgiving right around the corner, I found some pics that are not spooky and just right for the transition of Halloween and Thanksgiving. How much longer after Halloween do you leave up your decorations? Do you decorate alot for Thanksgiving and how? I have always been a little stumped on how to really decorate for Thanksgiving. I usually just try to incorporate more orange and other warm colors. I still leave pumpkins up too. I think these picture are perfect examples of how to keep some fall decor around through Thanksgiving, even though you may be itching to decorate to Christmas!

I love Fall!

Fall is in full swing here in Michigan..well almost nearing the end actually! November is just around the corner, and then it starts getting real cold! I do not mind the cold, or the snow..just the wetness and wind! The other day it was so windy, it was blowing leaves off the trees left and right and it looked like a mini leaf blizzard. Hence, our yard was COVERED in leaves and I decided to do a bit of raking with the help from my little guy. These are the pics I got.

Halloween Creeps

So hubby and I went to a Halloween party last weekend

and it was alot of fun! He went as a creepy guy and me, just a hodgepodge of things! People did NOT even recognize who he was! We cracked up..it was a good time! He wore this old, old sweater and tight navy blue polyester pants and a fanny pack. Plus the beard and glasses. (That's his real hair) J/K!!

Rain Rain Go Away!!

Happy Friday- or should I say Happy Dreary Friday to you! Geez...it has been raining for like 12 hours straight and I am sick of it! I don't think the sun has come out in at least 3 days now and it depresses me! I need to get some new pictures of new items in my etsy shop and I need sunshine for that! Please come out sun! :) So we have a busy weekend (as always) with lots of stuff to finish up and start! I am going to attempt to re-cover an ottoman my friend gave me. I promise I will try to get pics of the process! So I will leave you with a picture of some pretty mums from my porch. They remind me of sunny fall days. Oh, how I want sunny fall days and not rainy fall days!

Old Table

I found this old table at an estate sale I went to a couple weeks ago. I saw it right when I walked in the door and knew it was coming home with me! The price fit too! 15 bucks! I don't quite know where it's new home is going to be- I am sure it will move around the house like alot of my items do! I loved the bright blue door and the old handle. Too cool! The top is very rustic looking, just how I like it!

Canoe Trip

A couple weeks ago we went up north for the weekend for a little getaway. The weekend was GORGEOUS and we found a little canoe place to go canoeing. Both my husband and I have only been canoeing a couple times, and the lady warned us that it had a fast current and lots of "hazards" to look out for. I was a bit nervous, but it ended up being a blast! It took a good 3 hours to get to the pick-up point, but it was a super busy weekend and we actually had to wait in line almost 45 minutes to get a canoe. They were swamped. But it made for good laughs as everyone was bumping into eachother and tipping! Here are some gorgeous scenery pics I got!
