The Last Week
School starts in 1 week from tomorrow....it is a happy/sad moment. While I do enjoy Connor's company during the day, it will be nice to have pillows on the furniture for more than a half an hour. How on earth do all the pillows always end up on the floor? So while I will miss him, it will sure be nice to have pillows on the couch for 7 hours straight!

Decorating Woes
While I love my mostly neutral decor, something I get the urge to brighten things up a bit. Do you all have that problem too?? I hope I am not alone. When we first bought this house, I was into earthy tones like mossy greens, dark taupes and coffee colors...reds and oranges... Then I changed to very shabby chic..pinks and light greens, yellows, and light blues. NOW I am into lots of neutrals, creams, whites, browns...seagrass rugs, natural elements. BUT, then I see pictures like the ones below and crave some colors and eclectiness (is that even a word?) Am I alone here? I have always been like that, back and forth on my decorating, changing things all the time! So I think that it is a good thing for me to have neutral furnishings and such. Hmm....

Large Mirrors
For my friends that have been to my house, you know that I love mirrors. I have a little obsession with them...not for looking at myself in them. No. That is not me. I promise! I just love the looks of them. I especially love finding old gold framed ones and painting them white! So chic! These mirrors in the pictures are ginormous and fabulous and I want both! Do you have something that you just have to buy when you see it? Mirrors would def. be one of my things! (along with pillows, rugs, lamps.....ect ) :)
The Decorating Itch
I've got it.....the itch I get every new season to move things around! With fall right around the corner, it is back! I feel the need to remove, renew, re-accessorize, toss out, bring in....you get the idea!! I get the urge to just change things up a couple times a year. Sooo..the other night I decided to re-arrange my living room. I took one chair up and moved it to our bedroom upstairs. It is a super cute chair- with aqua and brown and tan stripes...but I just wasn't feeling it anymore in our living room. Then I just simply switched spots with the couch and chairs. In came some new accessories and out went some old ones. And Voila! Presto change-o! It really only took a couple hours. (It was so nice to clean all the dust bunnies underneath the couch too that thing is HEAVY!) I have a few more things to finish in there, but here is a glimpse.....

A Box For A Buck
Ok, so you are probably thinking, "How many pics can a girl take of an old box??" Let me tell you....alot! I must have taken 15 pictures of this box yesterday! You're lucky I only gave you 6 to look at! :) Anywho...I got this box at a flea market on our way home from canoeing last weekend. It was holding a bunch of "pieces" and odds and ends of little tools and car parts. The guy running the stand gave me the weirdest look when I asked him if I could just buy the box. I said "How much for the box?" He looked at me like I was crazy, wanting this old, chippy thing! He shrugged and was like ... "Uhhh..a dollar?" Sold! It is that perfect patina that I like... shabby and old! I am using it to hold magazines right now, but who knows what it will end up holding in the future!? Books? My millions of spools of thread? Craft supplies? I thought it would be cute filled with lots of old, rugged looking baseballs in my sons room too! So far I have only been able to find 2 "old" baseballs though! Any other ideas on what to fill this 1.00 box with?

New Cupboard...Sorta
Hello!
So, I had this cupbaord for almost a year now..it had been in my downstairs bathroom, until sunday. It is super old and it has great glass knobs on the doors. It was full of spider webs..but I cleaned it all out! The inside is huge for storage..I keep all my shipping envelopes in there and paint supplies! Anyways, I moved it out of the bathroom and into my dining room! I hung a bunch of black and white pics I got enlarged above it and put an old window on the top b/c part of the top was not finished the same as the rest. (It must have had a top piece at one time) My only problem is..what to do with the wall next to it? Do you see it..the one with the mirror?? Any suggestions on what to do there? I thought about hanging a bunch of white platters and dishes..what do you think?
PS- Henry likes it too! :)

Paint it White.....
That's what I say! Paint it white! I think just about every piece of furniture can look fabulous in a few coats of white paint! Check out this table that I got at a garage sale for 5.00!! It is SOLID, solid wood! And heavy! It is very old and the dark finish on it was in great condition...but I just wasn't feeling it and it just didn't fit our house..so white it went! Picture number one...I know...I should have picked up the toys and fabrics...sorry! But that is a before picture of it in the room...doesn't fit huh...and then another close up of it before. The third picture is with one coat of primer on it and then the last two- VOILA! It took three coats of paint and a coat of poly....I distressed the edges a bit with some sandpaper and I think it turend out great and def. fits that room better!

Pretty! Pretty!
I love this room. It is everything that I would want in a kitchen. It is open..it is bright..it has that urban farmhouse, industrial, cottagey look that I l-o-v-e!! And that large kitchen island! I would give up a dining room for a kitchen island that big and spacious!
Anyways, I hope your week is all going good! I am busy, busy, trying to get alot of pillows done before we head up north this weekend for an adults only canoe trip! Yippee!!

The Dog Days of Summer........
Kirby has the right idea on these hot, muggy days! Sleep! This dog always lays in the weirdest positions. He never looks comfortable. His head is always laying off the end of something. I think it is because he thinks he is a little dog and can fit on certain things, certain ways. He is odd, but we love him!

Simple and Sweet!
This room is just so simple and beautiful. I bet it would be easily replicated! Hmmm....... A simple bookcase...a wooden trunk, a slipcovered chair or loveseat would work...and that cute dog! Easy enough!
